Arc'teryx Cerium SV Hooded Down Jacket - Men's

The Arc'teryx Men's Cerium SV Hooded Down Jacket is built with extreme functionality in mind, specifically for those challenging backcountry and alpine situations. When your life depends on your gear, the last thing you want to be thinking about is whether or not your jacket is up to the task. The Cerium starts with down composite mapping, which strategically places down and synthetic insulation into key areas. A DWR coating is used on the lightweight Airetica face fabric to help repel minimal amounts of moisture. Let's face it though, the places you're likely using this jacket, it's so high and cold that there's not much moisture around anyway. A stuff sack is included with the Cerium as well so it's not crowding up your pack.

Arc'teryx Ceres Down Parka - Men's Legion Blue, XL

When others are huddled under the comforting warmth of puffy blankets indoors, you're wearing the Arc'teryx Men's Ceres Down Parka through bone-chilling temperatures in balmy comfort. As the warmest jacket in Arc'teryx's Essentials collection, the Ceres Down Parka sports 850-fill European Grey Goose Down insulation for exceptional warmth in the most extreme environments on earth. Down Composite Mapping places synthetic insulation along zones prone to condensation from active use, such as the underarm areas. This strategic mapping prevents the down insulation from succumbing to perspiration when you're camping in sub-zero temperatures or exploring wind-swept corners of the globe. The WindStopper membrane prevents oncoming snow showers from seeping inside and compromising the down's warmth-trapping loft. Better yet, it's completely windproof, so you're never shivering uncontrollably when whipping winds threaten to rob your body of precious heat. Sealing in warmth over your head, the StormHood features Cohaesive adjustments that cinch down over your helmet or hat. And to ensure plenty of room for layering, the Expedition fit offers a generous cut for wearing baselayers without compromising movement.

Arc'teryx Cerium LT Hooded Down Jacket - Men's Nautic Grey, S

Cerium is the most abundant rare earth metal, and it decomposes slowly in cold water and rapidly in hot water. The Arc'teryx Men's Cerium LT Hooded Down Jacket is not quite as prevalent as its namesake, but it does slow your decomposition in cold weather. The combination of 850-fill European goose down and strategically placed Coreloft insulation keeps you warm whether you wear the Cerium alone or under a hardshell when you're confronted with a winter tempest most storm chasers avoid. Big numbers are fun when it comes to betting odds and down insulation. A higher fill-power down, like the 850-fill used in the Cerium, refers to how much space a single ounce of down occupies. The more space taken up by the down means more air is trapped between the fibers. Trapped air creates a barrier between warm air from your body and cold air in the environment, so you stay warm when it's cold outside. Taking this logic one step further, if one ounce of a certain down takes up more space than a different type of down, it stands to reason you'll need less of the 'bigger' down to keep you warm, thus reducing the weight of your jacket. In essence, this jacket's high down fill makes it both light and warm. Since down doesn't maintain its warmth when it gets wet, the folks at Arc'teryx placed synthetic insulation in the spots that are most likely to get a bit damp. Still, while Coreloft insulation does resist moisture better than down, and an ominous drizzle won't leave you a cold, soaking mess, it's best to pair this jacket with a waterproof shell if you know stormy weather is coming. This superlight hooded jacket comes with its own stuff sack so you can easily bring it along and so your pack stays organized. The same 850-fill down fills the low-profile StormHood so your melon stays warm. (Mom was right--if you keep your head covered, you'll stay warmer.) Two zippered hand pockets hold your keys and phone, trail map and candy, or your partner's ID and lip balm.

Arc'teryx Cerium LT Down Jacket - Men's

The Arc'teryx Cerium/Thorium line enters the down jacket domain with an explosion--a streamlined-yet-puffy explosion. The Men's Cerium LT Down Jacket is the lightest in the family at under a half pound, but it still packs a wallop of warmth. And actually, it's a hybrid in the family since Arc'teryx placed 850-fill goose down where it matters most (your torso and arms) , and then used synthetic Coreloft insulation in locations that are likely to suffer exposure to moisture, like the shoulders, collar, and along the hem. The dynamic duo of high-tenacity Airetica face fabric and high warmth-to-weight down insulation fights cold on cloudless, bitter days. Wear this hybrid jacket over a thermal-weight baselayer when you're hiking to find the perfect Christmas tree in the freak December cold snap, and wear it under a waterproof hardshell if you're skiing through a snowstorm. Whatever your pleasure, the Cerium jacket keeps you warm without being a burden, either on your back or in your pack. The trim silhouette means you can layer over the Cerium and still put your arms down comfortably by your sides. Underarm articulation gives you upper-body mobility so you can plant a pole or chuck a snowball without tearing seams or exposing flank flesh. Arc'teryx designers made a name for themselves with their attention to detail, and the Cerium jacket illustrates their expertise. Light elastic cuffs won't pinch your wrists but will rebuke cold air attempting to slither up your arm. A chin guard on the collar prevents unattractive zipper rash caused when cold metal chafes against your chin. The included stuff sack makes it easy to pack this jacket when you're taking off for a week in the Winds and you need something warm for nighttime when the sun sets and crumbs from dinner have disappeared into the last gasps of embers.

Arc'teryx Cerium LT Down Jacket - Men's Black, L

When it comes to cool, dry climates, the Arc'teryx Men's Cerium LT Down Jacket knows a thing or two about ensuring lightweight warmth and performance. The Cerium LT touts a hybrid construction and slim fit that makes it ideal for backcountry pursuits, climbing in chilly conditions, snowshoeing with the family, or simply for wearing around town. More specifically, the Cerium is outfitted with 850-fill goose down in the torso and arms for core warmth, while the synthetic Coreloft insulation in the shoulders, collar, and hem is designed to maintain warmth, despite the fact that those areas often get exposed to moisture--so you stay warm, even when wet. Meanwhile, the Arato 10 exterior is tenacious and lightweight, and also features a DWR treatment that sheds light moisture should you encounter an unexpected snow flurry. Arc'teryx Thorium AR Hooded Down Jacket - Men's Dark Basalt, S

The element, thorium, was named after Thor, the Norse god of thunder. It stands to reason that Arc'teryx attached the same moniker to the Men's Thorium AR Hooded Down Jacket. This down jacket will protect man from the evils of winter and the perils of packing when space is at a premium. The combination of 750-fill European grey goose down and specifically situated synthetic insulation offers aggressive warmth when this jacket is worn over a thermal baselayer if you're working hard, and when it's worn under a hardshell if Thor is flexing his muscles and throwing storms in your face with gleeful abandon. Down is a fowl mix of feathers and clusters that work cooperatively to create air pockets in and amongst the fiber structure. Air pockets are little barricades, preventing warm air from escaping and cold air from entering. Synthetic insulation works the same way, except instead of using feathers, it uses man-made materials to create the air-pocket barricade. The big difference between natural and synthetic insulation becomes evident when moisture is an issue. Wet down is dead down, and you'll go down quickly from the cold. Synthetic insulation resists water penetration and dries quickly when water wins out, reducing your exposure to cold, wet conditions. The designers at Arc'teryx exploited the differences in insulation to your benefit; areas that are the first line of exposure to the elements, like your shoulders, the hood, and the collar, are filled with Coreloft instead of down. The athletic fit and low-profile cuffs cut a trim silhouette, and if it's 60F when you're putting together gear for a cold-weather adventure, the Thorium squishes down into a cylinder not much bigger than a large coffee for easy packing. Throw it in your bag and still have room left over for essentials, like chocolate bars and beef jerky.
